Proven engine, optimised cooling system
The cooling unit has been optimised on all models in the new multi-middle class, making it not only more efficient but also easier to maintain. The cooling system now integrates the water, charge air and air-conditioning radiators in one unit, which is driven directly by the engine. Inside, a tried and tested VM turbo diesel engine of the latest generation operates in exhaust gas stage 5. The turbo diesel delivers a full 80 kW (109 HP) and has a torque of 420 Nm at 1100 rpm. The enormous torque increase of 43% is particularly evident in the high pulling power. Even starting up on the steepest slopes under full load becomes child's play. The optional spring-loaded brake, which enables very sensitive brake release, can also provide additional support here.
Tried and tested chassis, new body frame
The proven chassis - consisting of the front and rear sections - is connected to each other via a rotating central tube, which provides optimum protection for the drive and PTO shaft against dirt. The body frame of the Muli has been redesigned and made even more stable. Despite the lighter construction, the torsional rigidity has been increased and the axle loads have been increased. The resulting increase in the maximum permissible gross weight is 8,100 kg (T7 X) and 9,500 kg (T8 X, T8 X pro), whereby the tare weight of the vehicles has remained almost the same compared to the previous models. This means a payload increase of up to 20%.
Genuine all-wheel steering and typified additional wheels
The Muli's intelligent steering system automatically ensures the same steering angle of the front and rear wheels in "all-wheel steering" mode. This reduces the risk of collisions and improves ground protection. Typified additional wheels for double tyres increase the suitability for use on slopes and turf protection and also allow driving on public roads.
Reinforced front linkage
The proven lifting technology of the Muli range has been reinforced, giving the front linkage a lifting capacity of 1,250 kg. The dimensions have been made more compact by the foldable lower link, which brings great advantages during transport journeys. The Category II linkage can be fitted to the new Muli mid-range and all previous models with front mounted frame.
Noticeable adjustments were made to the gears of the new mid-range mule. For example, the gearshift gate has been rearranged and ergonomically designed. The electromagnetic operation of the front, longitudinal and rear differential locks ensures a high level of comfort. The PTO clutch on the new Muli models is operated electrohydraulically via a safety switch or directly via the buttons on the PTO shift lever. The new external power brake also ensures increased driving comfort. The brake pedal only switches a valve which releases the brake pressure to the internally ventilated disc brakes. The necessary braking force is thus reduced to a minimum.
Newly developed driver's cab, easy maintenance
The driver's cab of the new mid-range mule has been completely redesigned and scores points with a large amount of space and excellent all-round visibility through the spherical windscreen and the all-glass side door. Due to the central positioning on hydromounts, the damping characteristics for an ergonomic and comfortable workplace in the cab have been significantly increased. The cockpit and the space available are fully geared to the driver, while a combined heating and air conditioning system ensures the optimum temperature for well-being during work. Easy maintenance was also a key consideration in the development of the new mid-range mule. All fluids and filters can be checked, refilled or replaced without tools via the maintenance flap in the front cladding. The entire hydraulic system and the AdBlue tank are well stored in the equipment room behind the cab. Should major repairs be necessary, the cab can be easily dismantled, which in turn saves time and money in the workshop.
Central control elements with a lot of comfort
The basis of the simplified operation is the new "R-Com" controller, which combines all functions in one central control unit. In the T7 X this is located on the dashboard, in the T8 X it has been integrated into the ergonomic armrest, which is permanently connected to the driver's seat and enables fatigue-free working on any slope. All hydraulic functions as well as the steering changeover can be operated from here. In the T7 X, the well-proven mechanical hydraulic block is located on the side of the driver's seat. A central multifunction display with a 4.3" LCD screen - on both models - shows all vehicle functions and is operated via the R-Com. For even more individualisation, the T8 X is available in the pro version. The additional R-Guide monitor in this equipment version enables various hydraulic settings and the cruise control function as well as control of the standard automatic air conditioning system. The modern cockpit can be supplemented by a digital radio with a 7" touch display, which offers all standard functions and digital connections.
The new REFORM Muli mid-range with the models T7 X, T8 X and T8 X pro will be available from spring 2021.
