With powerful diesel engines from 44 to 91 hp, REFORM offers a wide range of different engines.

Engine technology

The flexible and extremely efficient 4-cylinder engines utilise a very high torque over a wide speed range and benefit from enormous engine output. The high torque ensures full power and flexibility in partial load operation. The quadruple rubber mounting of engine and cab keeps oscillations and vibrations out of the cab.

Modern, powerful turbo diesel common-rail engines with 3 l displacement from VM Motori with 70 to 91 hp output ensure maximum efficiency and master every task effortlessly. 

Kubota's tried and tested engine technology is used in the performance class between 44 and 49 hp.

Engine mounting

With the REFORM Metrac, the engine is installed on the right side of the driver, so the centre of gravity of the entire vehicle can be kept very low. 

The installation orientation of the engine offers various advantages. By installing the engine lengthwise, the mechanical transfer gear is located at the front of the vehicle. This offers the advantage of a linear power flow without loss of efficiency. REFORM Metracs deliver the highest PTO power without losses. The radiator unit is driven directly at the engine and can therefore be operated very efficiently. The radiators are located in the rear of the vehicle and are therefore well protected against dust and dirt. 

Exhaust gas treatment

The different performance classes require different exhaust gas treatment systems. The requirements for exhaust gas treatment increase with higher performance and are continuously being tightened up by the legislator in various countries. REFORM complies all legal regulations throughout its product range and constantly offers its customers the latest technology for engines and exhaust gas treatment systems.

The more stringent emission levels reduce various pollutants in the exhaust gases of diesel engines.

  • Carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Hydrocarbon (HC)
  • Nitrogen oxide (NOx)
  • Particulate matter (PM)

Installing different exhaust gas treatment systems greatly reduces emissions of pollutants.

Engines of emission levels 3A and 3B

The models in the category up to 37 kW/50 hp are equipped with Kubota engines that meet the requirements of emission level 3A. They are equipped with exhaust gas recirculation.

The models between 37 kW/50 hp and 56 kW/75 hp are equipped with VM engines. These engines have exhaust gas recirculation and a diesel particulate filter. With this equipment, the legal requirements of Level 3B and, for certain models, Level 5 are already achieved. The Metrac models are equipped with self-regenerating particulate filters. The closed-loop diesel particle filter system reduces soot emissions by over 98%. The system also absorbs and eliminates 99.9% of the particulate matter.

Engines at emission level 5

In the performance class above 56 kW/75 hp, an oxidation precatalytic converter is also used in the VM engines to reduce environmental impact. With the additional SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) equipment and the AdBlue additive, the engines already meet the level 5 emission regulations now. Thanks to automatic regeneration of the DPF and the maintenance-free SCR equipment, maintenance of the exhaust gas treatment has been reduced to a minimum.
